During 2009 I was fortunate to gain a place in the NSW DEC Special Education retraining program, which allowed me to return to study for a year and complete my Master of Education (Special Education). It was an excellent opportunity to take some time out from the classroom and reflect on the integration of theory and practice, as well as being able to explore new avenues of learning.
I became particularly interested in Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory during this year, and subsequently developed a focus on disability portrayal in film, television and social media.
I have included my research and papers from this year on this site. I hope to add to the collection as I embark on action research projects back in the classroom.
