Like most teachers, I own way too many books. Thanks to eBooks, I’m finding it easier to buy, store, locate and access books as I need them. But I still have all those trusty paper book-smell books in my bookcase, and amazingly, they still come in handy quite often!
However, I find it tricky to remember what books I have, or keep track of when I loan them to people. Then I stumbled across a really great piece of software from Collectorz.com called Book Collector. Basically, I just downloaded a barcode scanning app onto my phone and scan the barcodes on my books. It uploads the info to the cloud and retrieves the details of the book (usually including a pic of the cover) so that you can create your own personal library catalogue. You can trial the software, but if you want to upload more than 100 books or so, you need to buy it. So I did. And also bought a Collectorz Connect subscription which allowed me to publish my collection online so that colleagues could browse my collection and see if there were any they’d like to borrow.
So anyway, if you’d like to browse my bookshelf, please feel free to do so. And if you’re a colleague who’d like to borrow a book or two, let me know!
